Q. Does MySQL equally support all operating system and hardware combinations?
A: No. MySQL runs on many different combinations of operating systems and hardware platforms. MySQL divides these into one of three tiers:
Fully Supported (FS)
Conditionally Supported (CS)
Limited Support (LS)
Q. What is Fully Supported (FS)?
A: These are operating system and hardware combinations which are primary platforms for MySQL usage. MySQL builds and tests binaries for these combinations using our own hardware. All forms of MySQL binaries can be included under this tier: Certified, Production (GA), Alpha, Beta, and Gamma. There should be no technical scenarios on these platforms which the MySQL Support Team cannot resolve to a reasonable level.
Q. What is Conditionally Supported (CS)?
A: These are operating system and hardware combinations for which MySQL provides conditional support. For this tier, MySQL may not have the target OS/hardware; or MySQL may have documented issues; or the OS and/or hardware vendors may not be actively supporting their platform components. The MySQL Support Team will attempt to provide technical support for these platforms, but with the customer's acknowledgement that there may be scenarios that cannot be resolved.
Q. What is Limited Support (LS)?
A: These are specific operating system and hardware combinations for which MySQL provides only limited support. For this tier, MySQL does not have the target OS/hardware; and MySQL does not build binaries for these combinations; and MySQL does not test on these platforms. The MySQL Support Team will use commercially reasonable efforts to attempt to provide technical support for these platforms, but with the customer's acknowledgement that there may be scenarios that cannot be resolved due to the above limitations.
